Brothers juggling flaming brands while standing on one another's shoulders, Scandinavian dancers and a fashion show for people to view the native dress of several foreign countries were all part of the annual Festival of Cultures, held in Frost Arena on April 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Several tables were set up around the arena, giving area students and residents a chance to learn about different cultures and people. One table sold hemp purses, children's clothes and hats, another held pottery being made as people spoke and another booth told you everything you ever wanted to know about being Norwegian.
"The Festival of Cultures is important because it provides a venue for SDSU students, high school students and locals to experience a broad variety of cultures, which is key to understanding and acceptance," said Jacqueline Langland, a senior studying political science, German and history.
The event - organized by the International Relations Club and the SDSU Office for Diversity Enhancement - is also important because it helps the different participating clubs raise money and build their relationships with each other.
