Not going anywhere for Spring Break? Join the club. However, even if you're sticking around the good ol' 605, there are several shows you might not want to miss.
The first is one March 15 as Asking Abby will be taking the stage for one of their last shows. The Watertown natives have quite the list of accomplishments throughout the many years that they've been together, including the Taste of Chaos tour in 2005, the Warped Tour in 2006 and placing in the Top 100 at Smartpunk.com. However, they never really caught the wave they deserved, and, as happens to most bands, their members have decided to move on.
You can catch AA on March 15 at Nutty's North in Sioux Falls or on March 16 at Dempsey's in Watertown. The Sioux Falls show will be with Minneapolis natives Attention and Sioux Falls locals Private Drive and will start at 7 p.m. with a $5 cover. The Watertown show will also feature Attention as well as Minneapolis' Throw The Fight and will start at 7 p.m. with no cover charge. Both shows are all ages. AA's merchandise will be on sale for cheaper than usual, and you'll even get the chance to purchase their large banner for $30 (which is definitely a must for big AA fans).
The second is on March 21 as Red will be headlining in Sioux Falls at Nutty's North. The five-member Nashville, Tenn., natives have already peaked a #15 on the U.S. Mainstream Rock chart with their hit single, "Breathe Into Me" off of their debut album, End of Silence. The Christian rock band also won "Rock Recorded Song of the Year" at the 38th annual GMA Dove Awards last year.
Openers include national act Cinder Road, a five-member rock band from Maryland that actually started as a cover band. Other openers include Minneapolis natives Core as well as Sioux Falls locals Foley. This all-ages show starts at 7 p.m. and is $10.
If rock music isn't your style, the pop-punk band Boys Like Girls will be playing in Fargo at The Venue on March 19. These Boston natives released their self-titled album in 2006 and have already hit two Hot 100 spots with their singles "The Great Escape" and "Hero/Heroine". The show starts at 6 p.m. and is $17 open to all ages (all tickets are general admission).
You can check out these shows at more at pepperentertainment.com and jadepresents.com.
