Jackrabbits honor two seniors with two streaks

Jacks end the season with a 12-game winning streak and a 22-game home winning streak.

For a while, it seemed that the Jackrabbit women's basketball team was headed for a loss. Shots were not falling in the basket, and Oral Roberts was taking away the momentum mostly reserved for the Jacks. A Mariana Camagro jumper made the score 49-45 with just under 13 minutes on the clock.

Tracksters have strong times and marks at Summit championships

The Jackrabbit women placed second, while the men took fifth place in the indoor meet.

The men's and women's track teams turned in strong performances while competing in their first Summit League Conference Championship on Feb. 29 thru March 1 in Sterling, Ill. The women turned in a second place finish while the men were three points away from a fourth place finish.

Men fail to win their final game for three seniors, 69-64 to Centenary

Jackrabbits ended the season with a loss and in last place in the Summit League during their first year in the league.

The Jackrabbits' men's basketball team ended their first season in the Summit League with a home loss to Centenary (La.) 69-64 to finish last in the 10 team conference. The night started by honoring the three seniors on the team: Mohamed Berte, Ben Beran and Michael Loney, who each received framed pictures and a standing ovation from the 2,922 in attendance.

The SDSU men's basketball season is over, and to call it a disappointment may be an understatement. The season was long for both players and fans; the best news for the Jacks is that next year will start soon enough to forget the pain. The season started out with a strange feeling for the men's hoop squad, optimistic and confident with a large chip on the shoulders to go along with a hunger for victories.

As winter turns into spring, activity on campus increases. Almost every sport the school offers is practicing somewhere on campus, or if not on campus, in the city of Brookings. Work progresses on facilities that have been needed for the campus community, and this spring marks the end of a journey for SDSU.

Jackrabbits softball looked to get back on the winning track against Boston University and Missouri after struggling the weekend before. A trip to the "Show Me" state found them on the losing end of 8-3 and 3-1 decisions against Missouri and 4-0 and 10-7 defeats to Boston University on Feb.

The SDSU women's basketball team routed Centenary 105-46 on March 1 in Frost Arena. Five Jackrabbits scored in double figures as SDSU broke its record for points scored during its Division I era. The Jackrabbits won their 11th straight game, while increasing their home winning streak to 21 games from last year.
