Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Dangerous has many of the same elements as the first movie, with a few of the same characters.
Gracie Hart (Sandra Bullock) is re-introduced into the movie as a Miss USA runner-up trying to get back to her normal routine of fighting crime as an FBI agent. After a mission went wrong because someone recognized her, she must decide between sitting in an office doing paperwork or becoming "the face of the FBI".
Needless to say, she chooses the latter and starts a new mission touring the country with a possé of stylists. She is also accompanied by a body guard, Sam (Regina King), who can not get any other mission because of her "angry" attitude.
Once Gracie's friend, Cheryl (who became Miss USA in the previous movie) is kidnapped along with the pageant's emcee, Stan, Gracie tries to continue her tour while also solving the crime. The ending is, of course, a happy one, where Gracie saves the day along with her newly befriended sidekick, and both learn a lesson. What other kind of ending would there be?
Although the movie was very funny and had me laughing the whole time, much of it was predictable. Although I did not guess WHY the two were kidnapped, there was hardly any other moment where I didn't see what was coming.
So if you like movies that keep you in suspense, I probably wouldn't recommend this one. However, if you want a great comedy about friendship and staying true to yourself, check it out. There aren't necessarily any adorable male sidekicks, but Gracie's homosexual 'stylist' and the adorable little girl thrown into the situation still make the movie amusing and thoughtful.
