I am writing this letter in response to your displays that you had on the 19th and 20th in the area around NFA and the Union. I thought it was appalling. I mean, I think the shock and awe approach is really cool [sarcasm] but there are so many more things you could have done that would have been better. The fact that you had to have the UPD come and watch your displays speaks for itself. Before you start to formulate your comeback, don’t even think about saying it is “freedom of speech” or that “you can say whatever you want because killing babies is evil”. that is complete bull. What it boils down to is that you want to shove this issue in the faces of everyone at SDSU. While I understand your reasons, I hardly think that showing 2.5×5 pictures of aborted fetuses is where you want to go. I am pro-life, but seeing these displays made me think that I was in the wrong camp. This letter is not meant to “bitch you out” for what you did, but rather to inform you of the consequences your actions hold. First of all, your signs saying that you have genocide pictures is is laughable (minus the actual genocide picture you had from wars). Genocide is the destruction of entire genotype. Did anyone truly think about how ghastly that action was before they used it on the signs? I want you to think about the MURDER or every single person of asian descent in the world; billions of people. Now think about abortion and it seems insignificant in relation. Comparing the death of an entire set of peoples to the prevention of a life is, frankly, stupid. Secondly, there are many times when abortion is not only acceptable, it is necessary. Consider the three following situations. First, you have a woman who is raped. You could make the argument that the woman should carry the baby to term and then either keep it or put it up for adoption. But what about the case where the pregnancy is threatening the mother’s life? Should they still have to have the baby and die because of it? Second scenario: a married couple has a child. They fully intend on keeping it but during the pregnancy it is discovered that the fertilized egg has gotten stuck in the fallopian tubes (this actually happens). Should the mother be forced to keep the baby and die along with it or should the pregnancy be aborted? Even a third case is if a mother discovers that the baby will have such a defect that he or she would not be able to function in normal society. All the things I have written should be considered when thinking about abortion. Just saying that it is evil is wrong. Worse than that, it is closed-minded. It is like saying that all Protestants are going to hell because they don’t follow the Catholic faith ( I have actually heard this and the idea is equally absurd ). Please before you ever do something like this again, don’t. It is shameful (which, if it was the point, is disgusting) and sheds a bad light on the entire pro-life movement. I am pro-morality, ask me about it.
