A new bike-sharing program will be coming to SDSU in the fall of 2011 to provide students with free bicycle rentals.

On March 1, the Students' Association unanimously passed an ordinance to approve the pilot bike-sharing program.

"Bike sharing is a program where students would be able to rent a bicycle and use it for an afternoon and then return it to Information Exchange or their residence hall," said Matt Tollefson, SA president.

Finding a place to live is not a simple task. For students it is a long process of comparing numerous options. However, for those trying to rent out the properties, the competition is fierce.

Currently, Brookings is overbuilt. Community Development Director Mike Struck estimated that there are a little more than 4,000 rental units, and he said he has heard that between 6 and 8 percent of them are vacant.

"I woke up to the sound of a semi truck heading straight toward my room. When I looked up, I saw the chandelier above my head shaking violently. At first, I had no idea what was going on, and then suddenly I thought to myself, 'This is an earthquake.' I quickly jumped out of my bed and ran underneath the doorway in my bedroom to take cover."

Friends are great. They let you tell them anything, will hang out with you when you have nothing else to do, and usually make you laugh if you let them. I like to think (in a very un-haughty sort of way) that I have a decent amount of good friends and I am thankful that I can rely on such a dependable group of people.

The other day when I was checking my e-mail, I saw one regarding an EP in my mailbox at The Collegian office. Out of curiousity, I went into the office to see who the artist was. I found Death on Two Wheels, a rock band out of Atlanta, Ga. The EP was titled Again for the First Time, which seems like a contradiction in itself, but I was intrigued so I put the CD in the computer for a listen.

With the Jacks compiling a 53-4 home record the last four seasons, a lopsided win in their last regular season game seemed fitting.

And lopsided it was.

The Jacks (19-10, 14-4) made a season-high 15 3s and tied a season high for total points in a 93-47 win over Western Illinois at Frost Arena on March 1.

With its seed in the Summit League tournament locked up, the women's basketball team is searching for the right momentum to make a championship run.

The Jacks continued that pursuit on Feb. 27, staving off a depleted IUPUI (3-25, 2-15) squad for their 13th conference win 77-55 in front of 3,418 fans at Frost Arena.
