SDSU student named Miss South Dakota

HOT SPRINGS, S.D. (AP) — Anna Simpson of Rapid City has been crowned Miss South Dakota.

The 21-year-old South Dakota State University student will represent the Rushmore State at the Miss America pageant in January.

Simpson performed the piano piece “Malaguena” for her talent portion and her platform is “Give back.”

The first runner-up was Calista Kirby of Brookings, followed by Heather Johnson of SDSU, Brittanie Venard of Tea and Autumn Simunek of Hot Springs.
