This year, symposium speakers will tackle topics that revolve around the survival of small town America, an additional though lesser-known endeavor of Schultz’s, a Badger native and 1928 State grad who taught economics at Iowa State College and the University of Chicago and traveled extensively to other countries to study agricultural methods and ways to make life better.
“Economists, sociologists, Native American scholars and a number of people in academe are coming together to help us understand how we can hold on to our rural lifestyle,” said Gary Aguiar, professor of history and political science.
Free and open to the public, the T.W. Schultz Symposium will take place Tuesday evening, Oct. 5, and all day Wednesday, Oct. 6, at South Dakota State University.
