Dear SDSU Student Organizations:
As the 98th Anniversary Hobo Day celebration rapidly approaches, the Hobo Day Committee is busy planning this year’s parade. The “Biggest One-Day Event in the Dakotas” will be held on Oct. 23.
With only a few weeks left, there are a couple of items to put on your agenda. As we’ve done in years past, the Hobo Day Committee has been in contact with several businesses around town to see if they would be willing to sponsor an SDSU student organization float in the parade.
The business will donate $50, possibly more, directly to a student organization to help with the organization’s float. The organizations that receive a sponsorship must then, in turn, put the business name/contact information on two 2′ x 2′ signs and place them on each side of the organization’s float recognizing the businesses that have been generous enough to provide a sponsorship.
As this sponsorship program is still in its early years, a limited number of sponsors are available. The sponsorships will be given out on a “first come, first serve” basis. I will personally make the pairings to be certain that equal opportunities are given to receive sponsorships, regardless of affiliation.
If you are interested in receiving sponsorship to aid in your organizations participation, please send an e-mail to me, Paige Hansen at prhansen@jacks.sdstate.edu or stop by the University Program Council (UPC) office across from Java City in the Student Union and submit a written request to the secretary. While in the office, take the opportunity to pick up your Spirit Point Packet, which will be ready the week of the 27th!
In Summary,
* Contact the Floats Coordinator if interested in sponsorship.
* Contact the Brookings Business owner of said sponsorship.
* Post the business name/logo (on 2′ x 2′ signs) on each side of float.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Paige Hansen or Robin Bickel at 605.688.6173 or 605.688.5524 or stop in the UPC office. The deadline for receiving a sponsorship is Oct. 10. Thank you for your continued participation and have a fantastic and safe Hobo Day!
