Southern road trip brings mixed results
The Jackrabbit volleyball team handily won a match against Centenary Sept. 24 but had a change of luck when it came to Oral Roberts. The SDSU volleyball team headed south last weekend to play the only two private schools in the Summit League, Centenary and Oral Roberts. The Jackrabbits split the two game trip with a win Friday at Centenary before falling to Oral Roberts on Sunday. The Jacks are now 6-7 overall and 2-3 in league play.

AUBURN, Ala. – The South Dakota State equestrian team opened the season with a pair of losses in head-to-head competitions against Auburn and Kansas State on Sept. 24 in Auburn, Ala.
Jacks topple Big XII Iowa State after late change of venue
SDSU made the most of its chances during weekend action against Iowa State. The Jacks took care of Iowa, defeating the Cyclones 2-1. Last week, many obstacles mounted in front of the SDSU women’s soccer team. Their game against USD was canceled. Friday night’s game was moved to Sioux Falls. Not to mention their opponent was the talented Iowa State squad of the Big 12 conference.

The newest craze is not Furbies , Tickle Me Elmos or slinkies. Stretchy, form-remembering rubber bracelets are all the rage for college students and children alike. It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a saxophone! It’s actually just one of the incredible, stretchy bracelets known as Silly Bandz that have become a cultural phenomenon.
Fraternity brings alum to promote Greek Life
In an effort to promote Greek life, Sigma Phi Epsilon brought a comedy night to campus. They are working to erase negative stigmas attached to Greek life. Steve Hoffstetter’s act has been called “The Daily Show if it were on HBO.” The comedian was on campus Sept. 28 and was sponsored by Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity for a free show to promote Greek life on campus. Hoffstetter, a Sigma Phi Epsilon alumnus, performed at a reduced cost for SDSU.
Garth Brooks: who is he?
Country music phenomenon, Garth Brooks, tried his hand at making himself a new persona. Superman and Clark Kent, Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus, the Jackrabbit mascot and the Easter Bunny. Although the latter is largely unconfirmed, there are many well-known alter egos, such as the former two, in the entertainment industry. Let me introduce you to one that you may not be as familiar with.

Having a plan may not be the best plan. Staying open-minded is the key to success. All of our lives we are told to have a game plan or an idea for the future. This is all well and good but when life throws you the proverbial curve ball, you have to be ready to swing. I might even argue that having a plan is secondary to having the ability to be flexible. This is especially true when it comes to deciding our futures in the college setting.
