SDSUPD investigating assaults
After two assaults of “a sexual nature” took place on SDSU’s campus in the past two weeks, multiple leads have been reported in the case. The SDSU Police Department is investigating the incidents. “(SDSUPD) in conjunction with the state Division of Criminal Investigation have received nearly 50 leads, possibly more, and are looking into all of them,” said Bob Otterson, executive assistant to the president.
Health care bill extends student insurance coverage
Last month President Obama signed a bill on health care reform, possibly changing health care systems in America forever. Not only will the bill have an effect on South Dakota residents but also on SDSU’s student population, nursing majors and pre-medicine major.
SA senators debate at-large process
Some senators and former Students’ Association members are questioning whether the hiring process for at-large representatives was discriminatory this year. Others say the process worked to make SA more representative of the student body.
BOR discusses possibility of new Greek Village
An initiative to allow the construction of new Greek housing passed its first test on March 31 at the Board of Regents meeting. The Board voted to draw up a lease with the South Dakota State College Development Association for the creation of a Greek Village on 4.
Parking fee increases on the way again
Parking permit costs for the 2010-11 school year are not all final, but the residence hall parking decals will increase from the current $62. “Residential lots are going to be $86,” said Dean Kattelmann, assistant vice president for facilities and services.

SDSU Dairy Club milks success in California match
SDSU’s Dairy Club placed high at their latest judging challenge. The North American Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge was held in Visalia, Calif., April 9-10. Thirty teams from around the country competed by analyzing one of four host dairies. The teams of four toured the dairy, asked the owners questions about their facility and formulated management recommendations.
