At the time, there were 9 females to 21 males on SA, including the president and executive board. “I looked around the room at all the boys and thought, ‘This is not right,’” she said.

Legislative bill may force Chicoine to choose

On Jan. 26 a bill was introduced into the Legislature that limits the ability of public university presidents and executive officers to hold additional high-paying positions. House Bill 1116 prevents the association of university presidents and executive officers with corporations outside their institution if their primary salary exceeds more than $100,000 per year and if they would receive more than $10,000 from the corporation.

Saints bring hope to the people of New Orleans

Welcome to another edition of the Stack Attack. The Super Bowl matchup has been set. It will be the Indianapolis Colts facing the New Orleans Saints on Feb. 7 in Miami. The South Dakota Board of Regents releases a Fact Book each year of the different demographics at State. The book covers not only financial aid and enrollment, but also the different kinds of people and professors at SDSU.

Wearing red shirts on Fridays can help support troops overseas

American citizens across the nation are joining in an effort to support U.S. troops who are overseas. More than 800,000 citizens across the United States have become part of a Facebook group called “Project Red Shirt.” SDSU residence halls are taking an active role and encouraging everyone to wear their red shirts every Friday.

Jacks overcome weather

Limited runners participated in the Graphic Edge Alumni Invite in Vermillion on Jan. 23 due to weather. The SDSU track and field team didn’t travel to Vermillion for the meet due to the weather conditions. Members of the team that were already in the area competed.

Bowl Championship Series ‘is a joke’

Harvey Perlman, chancellor at University of Nebraska-Lincoln, was recently chosen to be chairman of the BCS (Bowl Championship Series) Presidential Oversight Committee. Who exactly is Harvey Perlman? Campus officials have agreed to reserve 1,500 student tickets for the women’s basketball game against the University of South Dakota, but that may not matter to students who don’t know that the Athletic Department is pre-selling the tickets.

Rare Jackrabbit sculpture stolen, reward for finder

A local Jackrabbit was recently stolen from the yard of a Brookings resident. A wooden Jackrabbit, that is. The wooden Jackrabbit sculpture that was purchased by a Brookings resident was recently stolen off of their front porch. The sculpture was valued at $3,000.
