A proposal to change the size of the Parking and Traffic Committee received unanimous disapproval from the Students’ Association on Sept. 28. The proposal, which was drafted by the President’s Office, reduced student representation from five members to three.
Women’s soccer wins against Mary
It was a tale of two halves. Just under a week after getting scored on in the first minute of the game against Kansas the Jackrabbits women’s soccer team scored their own quick goal when Kaitlin Justice took a pass from teammate Kayla Braffet and kicked the ball past Mary (N.D.) goalie Ashley Akers into the net 48 seconds into the match. Three second half goals helped SDSU defeat Mary 4-0 at Fishback Soccer Park on Sept. 23.

Defense carries Jacks into first road game
Coming off back-to-back blow-out wins, the Jackrabbit football team will hit the road for the first of a three-game road trip when they take on Illinois State on Sept. 26. Kickoff between the two teams is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Normal, Ill. The Jackrabbit defense has been the strong point for the Jacks this season, as they have only given up six points in the two games and have not allowed a team inside their 20-yard line.

The SDSU men’s tennis team started its 2009 season with a doubles win Sept. 18 at the Drake Invitational. The freshmen duo of Jameson Goetz and Dan Tully picked up an 8-3 victory over Southern Illinois-Edwardsville before losing their second-round match up against Gustavus Adolphus.

A week after sweeping back-to-back home conference matches, the SDSU women’s volleyball team dropped a pair of Summit League road matchups this past weekend. On Sept. 19, the Jacks seemed on their way to defeating Oakland (8-2, 3-1) with a 2-1 advantage heading into the fourth set.
