Jackrabbit women go dancing for first time in SDSU history

The SDSU women’s basketball team is dusting off their dancing shoes. The Jacks came back from a 10-point halftime deficit to get a 79-69 victory over Oakland to advance to the NCAA women’s basketball tournament. “There’s a certain relationship that our fans, our staff, our university have with the players,” SDSU head coach Aaron Johnston said.

Downtown sidewalks will ‘crawl’ with people

For SDSU students, Hobo Day may be the most celebrated and forgotten day (or weekend) of the year. However, The St Patty’s Day Pub Parade, commonly known as Pub Crawl, is climbing its way up to the status of Hobo Day weekend. Pub Crawl takes place each March and is an opportunity for people from all walks of life to form teams, travel from bar to bar and drink until they are literally crawling to the last bar.

Baseball ends seven-game losing streak

The SDSU baseball team won 10-5 in the first game of a two-game series against Missouri State on March 10. Stephen Turner tripled twice and drove in three runs to lead SDSU at Hammons Field in Springfield, Mo. The Jackrabbits broke a seven-game losing streak and moved to 2-9 on the season, while Missouri State dropped to 4-8.

Callahan carries Jacks to upset win

The SDSU men’s basketball team knocked off three-time defending Summit League Champion Oral Roberts 72-69 in overtime during the quarterfinals of the Summit League tournament on March 7. The win came in front of 5,481 fans at the Sioux Falls Arena. With so many close games going against the Jacks this season, it was set up for another heartbreaking defeat, with the second seed Golden Eagles (16-15) having a nine-point advantage with less than nine minutes left.
