Letter to the Editor

Editor,

It’s wonderful that the House State Affairs Committee nixed new legislation that would have denied information to the public about taxpayer-funded animal experimentation ["No Extra Security for Animal Research" Jan. 28]. Taxpayers and citizens, who foot the bill for research, need access to specific information regarding who is conducting what kinds of research in order to assess both its merit and its morality.

Ian Smith,
