Jacks thump Oakland in O.T.

With just under 18 minutes left, a Keith Benson free throw completed a three-point play and put Oakland in front of the SDSU men’s basketball team 45-28. Five-and-a-half minutes later, the game was tied. The Jacks (10-13, 5-6 Summit) came back from a 17-point deficit to win in overtime 74-68 on Jan.

Celebrate Valentine’s Day the Vagina way

“If you are single, go see The Vagina Monologues Feb. 14,” said Molly Muth, senior advertising major and marketing coordinator for The Vagina Monologues. The show, which is in its second year at SDSU, was written in 1996 by Eve Ensler. The Vagina Monologues combines the stories and experiences of women with facts about the vagina.

Suggestions for looking good on campus

Hey! I am Emily, but I mainly go by Em, and I will be doing fashion articles. I know you may see me around campus many times and probably ask yourself how I know anything about fashion. Alas, I know more about fashion than you may think. Even though I don’t agree with some of it because my sweats are definitely my favorite fashion accessory, my fashion findings still are right to say that leggings do look better.

Three weird nights with Umphrey’s McGee

Imagine Frank Zappa dressed as Odysseus, biceps extending off his sailing ship’s bow, screaming into a thunderstorm. Roger Waters descends on a mushroom cloud, and the pair begins to battle. Jackrabbit men survive Mastadon scare

It was a familiar scene Jan. 29 at Frost Arena, as the SDSU men found themselves with a late-game lead and a chance to put the game away. Unlike their previous three late-game collapses, the Jacks pulled off a 76-70 victory over Summit League opponent Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne.

Jackrabbits exact revenge on Grizzlies

The SDSU women’s basketball team is alone at the top. The Jacks took sole possession of the Summit League lead and avenged their only conference loss with a 88-75 victory over Oakland on Jan. 31 in front of a season-high 5,637 at Frost Arena. Oakland jumped out to a 33-15 lead back on Jan.

Step Up and show your moves

February is National Black History Month, and to help celebrate, the Sixth Annual SDSU Step Show is scheduled to take place on Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. in Doner Auditorium. Hosted by the Office of Multicultural Affairs, Office for Diversity Enhancement, Black Student Alliance (BSA) and DJ Boss Regis, this year’s step show promises a diverse and educational dance experience, as well as a dance following the show.

Some food smells won’t appeal to all, but the cook sure likes it

Fried food is part and parcel of an Asian cuisine. Red or white meat, fish – finding a dish that is oil-fried on the table is no surprise by any means. In my country, lard, a type of oil coming from pork, is vehemently adored. Oh boy, the moment our neighbor starts frying dried salted fish deep in lard, I wonder if he’s going to wake up the dead.

Letter to the Editor

Editor, It’s wonderful that the House State Affairs Committee nixed new legislation that would have denied information to the public about taxpayer-funded animal experimentation ["No Extra Security for Animal Research" Jan. 28]. Taxpayers and citizens, who foot the bill for research, need access to specific information regarding who is conducting what kinds of research in order to assess both its merit and its morality.
