Liles is new king atop wrestling career wins

Chris Mangan

With two wins on Jan. 7, Jason Liles became the all-time wins leader at SDSU.

Liles has been at the helm for the past 16 years for the Jackrabbit wrestling team. With duals scheduled against Virginia Military Institute and Delaware State, Liles needed two wins to pass Warren Williamson’s 134 career dual victories. The Jacks cruised to an easy 33-9 victory over VMI to move Liles into a tie with Williamson.

Liles would not have to wait much longer to overtake Williamson. The Jacks made the record breaking dual look easy as the Jacks cruised to an easy 31-15 victory to become the all-time wins leader with 135 wins.

Liles has increased the record to 138 wins after the Jacks posted a 31-13 win over Franklin & Marshall, a 36-11 win over American International and a 35-12 win over Sacred Heart on Jan. 10.
