After a strong showing during the summer and acquiring the full-time services of their head coach Jared Baszler, the Jackrabbit men’s and women’s golf teams are looking for a strong fall season. Baszler was announced as a full-time coach after spending the past five seasons as a part-time coach.
Jacks volleyball loses five matches in Florida tourneys
The SDSU women’s volleyball team lost to Virginia Commonwealth on Sept. 5 in a match that went five sets, with VCU pulling out the 18-16 victory in the final set. VCU capitalized on two Jackrabbit service errors on match points to take the match 3-2 in the finale of the Hurricane Invitational.

Q: What does the term “redshirt” mean? Do you get a redshirt because you are not a good player? A: Good question, and to answer your question, no. If a student-athlete does redshirt, he/she is not a bad athlete. A redshirt athlete is a member of the team who goes to practices, goes to meetings and lifts with the team, but that athlete sits out a year and cannot compete against other colleges and universities.

The SDSU men’s basketball team caught a scheduling break and was selected as a Summit League representative in the seventh annual ESPNU BracketBusters series, which will be televised by ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN360 on Feb. 20 and Feb. 21. The Jackrabbits will have a road game against a non-league team.
Jackrabbits prepare future football players
Almost 150 youths attended a clinic sponsored by Jackrabbit players and coaching staff on the practice fields east of Coughlin-Alumni Stadium, just hours before SDSU hosted Youngstown State. The camp was free and head coach John Stiegelmeier gave the children, who were in kindergarten through eighth grade, three simple rules.
