Jacks keep on winning

Ariy-El Boynton

The SDSU baseball hitting on-slaught against in-state teams continued against Dakota Wesleyan at Erv Huether Field on April 22 as the Jackrabbits beat the Tigers 12-2 in seven innings to improve to 16-19.

Billy Stitz – a freshmen from Burnsville, Minn. – hit a home run, and Craig Parry – a senior from Colstrip, Mont. – had two shots over the wall as SDSU had more runs (12) than hits (10).

DWU took an early lead at 2-1 in the top of second inning with a two-run base hit by Jake Roy that drove in Zach Huston and Mark Wood.

The Jacks tied the game in their second with a Jesse Ayala sacrifice fly. Back-to-back home runs by Parry and Stitz put the Jackrabbits in the lead for good. Parry ended the non-league game 3-for-3.

Christian Larson pitched four solid innings to earn his first victory of the season (1-3). The senior right-hander allowed two runs while scattering three hits.

Jackrabbit junior Zach Weber and the rest of bullpen held the Tigers scoreless in three innings.
