Jacks come back against winless Southern Utah

After two-and-a-half quarters, it looked like the Jackrabbit football team would go down to the Southern Utah Thunderbirds, providing the first win for the T-Birds in over a year. Luckily for the Jacks(, there was another quarter-and-a-half to play and they were able to come back to win 52-27.

Jacks sweep ORU, wrap up Summit

On Nov. 10, the Jacks wrapped up the Summit League, a regular season championship, with a win over Oral Roberts. SDSU swept pre-season favorite ORU 30-21, 30-18 and 30-22 in front of a crowd of 914 energetic Jacks fans. In doing so, the Jacks earned the right to play Western Illinois in the first round of the Summit League tournament Friday in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Musician shows off unique multi-talents

On Nov. 14, Dominic Gaudious is performing in Jack’s Place at 7 p.m. Gaudious is an instrumental six- and 12-string guitar player who also incorporates instruments as the Australian Didgeridoo. According to his Web site, dominicgaudious.com, his latest CD titled Life Worth Living features 13 tracks and came out in 2006.

Dakota marker battle of ’07

The wait is over. In a matter of days SDSU(6-4,3-0 GWFC) and North Dakota State will strap on their helmets and battle for the fourth annual Dakota Marker. More importantly, for the second year in a row the Jacks will be battling for the Great West Championship.

Youthful Jacks win over U. Mary 61-54

A new season and many fresh faces were a sight to see for the SDSU men’s basketball team as they defeated the University of Mary 61-54 on Nov.12 at Frost Arena. The Jacks started two freshmen, Sioux City, Neb., native Clint Sargent and Santa Clarita, Calif.

Jacks beat Ladies, secure the first Division One conference title

With nothing to lose, only an assistant coach holding a file folder while coaching and two subs, a tough Centenary volleyball team battled first place SDSU Nov. 9 in Frost Arena. In spite of the impressive perfomance by the last place Ladies, the Jackrabbits won 30-26, 30-21 and 30-24.

Soccer ends 2007 season on high note

The 2007 Jackrabbit soccer season has been over for almost a week. The team completed its first season in the Summit League, finishing with a record of 9-4-4, 6-2-2 in the Summit League. Coming into the season picked to finish seventh, the Jackrabbits found their way to a tie for second place at the end of the season.

Jacks beat Arkansas State in non-conference play, 77-67

The SDSU women’s basketball team took on Arkansas State University in a close game Nov. 9 at Frost Arena, with SDSU defeating ASU 77-67 in the season opener for both teams. The Jackrabbits(1-0, 0-0 in the Summit League) built a 14-point lead with 11:38 remaining in the first half on a 16-2 run that would prove to be the difference.

Women’s basketball set to make WNIT run in 2007-2008

The South Dakota State women’s basketball team is coming out of one of the most memorable and unforgettable seasons ever. To repeat the magic of last year will be no easy task. The first nine games of the regular season will see the Jackrabbits face off against teams that reached the postseason last season.

Boever hits late shot to send game in OT

Despite having pre-season second team all Summit League Jennifer Warkenthien out of the line-up due to an injury the Jackrabbits managed to defeat UC Riverside in a very intense 93-90 double-overtime victory at Frost Arena on Nov.11. Junior Maria Boever hit a turnaround jumper to send the game into the first overtime with the score tied at 84 a piece.
