Stadium filled for a night of entertainment
The Coughlin-Alumni Statdium field was covered in yellow during the Welcome Back Bash Sept. 4. The first of many big events put on by the University Program Council, the Welcome Back Bash had approximately 800 students in attendance, according to Ryan Velgersdyk, a senior graphic design major who is a member of UPC.
From classic to modern, summer plays entertain
Prairie Repertory Theater (PRT) had another successful summer. Their four plays were “Dames at Sea,” “Escanaba in da Moonlight,” “Come Back to the Five and Dime Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean” and “The King and I.” A total of 13,000 people attended performances in Brookings and Brandon throughout the summer.
Volleyball seniors look to lead Jacks to nationals
Fresh off a disappointing 2006 season that saw the SDSU Volleyball team underachieve at the Division One Independent Tournament and go through a huge slump at the end of the season, the 2007 team looks to start hot right out of the gate and finish that way.
Greek life
Greek Street is on Main Street on Sept. 5 and 6. All nine of the fraternities and women’s fraternities on campus have booths on Main Street in The Union and to answer questions. “This is a great way for people who want to meet the different fraternities to ask questions,” said Trisha Nordaune, the Greek Life advisor.
Jacks fall in overtime to Leathernecks
There were fireworks on and off the field as the 20th-ranked Jackrabbit football team kicked off the 2007 football season August 30 at the newly renovated Hanson Field in Macomb, Ill. The longest game in Jacks history saw SDSU (0-1,0-0 in GWFC) falling short to Western Illinois University Leathernecks (1-0,0-0) 29-26 in four overtimes.

Quarter to Nine has had its ups and downs with shows, but after almost seven years, they’re still going strong and show no signs of stopping. Located somewhere “between Slipknot and Britney Spears,” these four guys have gone through member changes, riots and record labels-gone-bad to become the local sensation they are today.
Harry’s Farewell
For me, this summer was terrific considering not one, but two major Harry Potter events occurred. I refer of course to the release of the fifth film Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and the much anticipated seventh and final book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Jacks look to take on Summit League head on
The 2007 Jackrabbit soccer team returns to the pitch with passion in their eyes and a thirst for Summit League blood. Last fall, SDSU defeated North Dakota State University in the United Soccer Conference championship game. The Jacks hope to take the momentum into the 2007 season.
One network has answered all my dreams.
I am in love. That’s right, and I am not afraid to admit it at all. The Big Ten Network has just made my Saturdays and the rest of my week that much more exciting. While the rest of the country had to watch boring college football games like Georgia Tech over Notre Dame 33-3 (boring!), Louisville beat Murray State 73-10 (zzz) and Nebraska beat Nevada 52-20.
New changes on and off the field for SDSU athletics
Walking around on the campus you may notice similarities and differences. This is also true of the Jackrabbits Athletic sconce, also. Sports Writer Travis Kriens explores new events and new faces to welcome the new 2007-2008 sports calendar. SDSU will host the Summit League basketball tournaments.
