Patience for ‘Blood Diamond’ and ‘Children of Men’ pays off

As I have often complained about in this very column, some of the best movies released are rather difficult to see in our area. Many critically acclaimed films may not stay in our local theatres for long, if they appear at all. Hopefully, you are patient enough to wait for worthwhile films to come out on DVD.

Sioux Falls will be rocked with a different kind of show early next month. A show with music, comedy, theatrics and … paint?? On April 7, the Blue Man Group’s “How To Be A Megastar Tour 2.0″ will be at the Sioux Falls Arena for what is described as a “not to be missed experience” by Jennie Willink, Executive Producer of the tour.

Recent theatre graduate starts at SDSU, ends up in Hollywood

Ever since Laci Greenfield was in grade school, she has been fascinated with acting. After school, she would watch her mom, a play director in Doland, rehearse. “I could not wait until I had the chance to be on stage” Greenfield said. From the Right: U.S. attorney firings

President Bush has dismissed eight of the 93 U.S. attorneys. To be clear, U.S. attorneys are political appointments. These attorneys work for the executive branch. They do not work for the courts or the judicial branch of government. We should not confuse the judicial system with cabinet appointees and political appointees.

Riders vie for national competition spot

In only its second year of competition, the western equestrian team finished second place in their region in total team points. “We have a very competitive squad. I expected our team to finish first in the region,” Head Coach Megan McGee said. SDSU led the region in points during the fall semester, but failed to hold on to the lead.

Volleyball, soccer gear up for 2007 season during spring camps

Spring is here, and so are the spring seasons for the volleyball and soccer teams. The spring season is where teams work on new plays, team set-ups and getting experience for the younger players. Volleyball is allowed four play dates and soccer is allowed five dates, in which they may play up to three games a day.

Dairy bar receives new look, thanks to corporate partners

The dairy bar is getting a whole new look and brand new equipment, thanks to the partnering of the dairy science department and several corporations. When the department announced plans to remodel in early 2006, only three corporate sponsors – Wells Blue Bunny, Davisco Foods International, Inc.

Festival of Cultures generates diverse student awareness

After hosting the Jacks’ win over Indiana by the women’s basketball team on Thursday, Frost Arena transformed overnight. Hoops were lifted, booths were put in place and the sea of blue and yellow was replaced with the colors of 48 of the world’s countries during the 25th annual SDSU Festival of Cultures.

Agriculture event offers opportunities for everyone

One of SDSU’s largest student organizations only gets to shine one weekend a year. March 30 and 31 is the weekend those students will put an entire year’s worth of planning into action. Little International, otherwise known as Little I, is an annual tradition at SDSU that incorporates high-school and college students as well as advisers, alumni and families.
