Although Sioux Falls usually boasts a good variety of rock music, it is also home to a fairly good hip-hop scene. Soulcrate has helped in reviving this ‘scene’ and brought it to a whole new level. The group, consisting of DJ / Producer Absolute and brothers Attention Deficit (A-Def) and Dirt Dee, formed in early 2002.
Pan’s Labyrinth’ a darkly dazzling masterpiece
When I was recently watching the Golden Globe awards one film was mentioned repeatedly that had me puzzled. Over and over I heard mention of a movie called “Pan’s Labyrinth.” This is the same movie that was called one of the best films of 2006 and “a transcendent work of art.

It’s finally over. Gifts have been given, and hearts have been won or lost thanks to the creativity, or lack thereof, on the parts of couples across campus. Valentine’s Day gifts have definite winners and losers. Here’s a list of some of the best and worst: The Best: ? Flowers, not necessarily roses ? Candy, especially chocolate ? Jewelry ? Watches ? Home-baked goodies, like cookies or cakes ? Perfume/ Cologne The Worst: ? Wilted flowers, ? Novelty and edible undergarments, ? “Diet” or “light” food items ? Scattered rose petals-they make a big mess.
Historic recruiting class brings accomplishments, hope to a prospering Jackrabbit football program
The Jackrabbit football officially welcomed 17 new football players to their program on Feb. 7, the national signing day. With players signing from eight different states, Head Coach John Stiegelmeier’s programs continues to extend around the area. The recruits for next’s years squad come highly decorated and with previous ties to the Jackrabbit football.
Short on players, big on victories
After a December hockey game, the entire South Dakota State women’s hockey club broke into a fight-a snowball fight. All of the players, and their coach, started hurling snowballs at each other while other players and coaches looked at them with bewilderment in their eyes.
Sports love affair has blossomed into the perfect relationship
Is it truly possible to be married to your work? Well, I don’t know, but I can honestly say I’m in a relationship with my work, and my work is sports. Sports and I have a wonderful relationship. We get along swimmingly. I’ll never forget my first date with sports.
2007 Jackrabbit football awards full allotment of scholarships
February 7 was a historic day for the SDSU football program. With the announcement of the 17 new Jackrabbit football players, SDSU has reached their full capacity for football scholarships. Redshirts from this class will be the first Jackrabbits eligible for the national championship all four years of their career.
Women’s domination of opponents continues
Even brisk February winds cannot cool down the Jackrabbit women’s basketball team. The team has won seven games in a row, and those big wins this week may have helped the directors of the Women’s National Invitation Tournament take notice of the Jacks. This week, an assistant director from the WNIT contacted Head Coach Aaron Johnston, informing him that SDSU is being considered one of 17 at-large bids to the tournament.
Wrestlers host last two home meets
After winning seven consecutive matches, the SDSU wrestling team has lost three in a row, including two matches in the mountains this past week. The Jacks wrestled the University of Wyoming on Feb. 9, losing 12-31. The next day, the SDSU traveled to the Air Force Academy.
