Bookstore offers students wide variety of SDSU merchandise

Not long ago, SDSU’s University Bookstore was just a place in The Union where people bought textbooks and picked up the occasional sweatshirt. But when the university’s athletic programs went D-I in 2004, the little store began to change. A pipe burst in The Union on Jan. 30 forced the facility to close for nearly 13 hours. Students were evacuated from the building when the fire alarms went off at approximately 6:20 p.m. after a sprinkler pipe in the southwest side of The Union froze and burst, releasing “multiple gallons” of water into the entrance, the Information Exchange office and the basement, according to Keith Skogstad, assistant director for The Union.

Members of the State Affairs Committee also said they might be willing to boost the scholarship amount next year if more information is provided to show why such an increase is needed.

Buying into costly car obsession goes too far for some, eludes others

I don’t understand cars. It seems that everyone invests so much time in caring for them, talking about them and showing them off. Cars are like some twisted form of child-rearing, except that when cars get old, you junk them. When children get old, they just resent you.

Realistic rabbit gets mixed reviews as committee delays logo unveiling

The new jackrabbit logo is a few touchups away from unveiling, but some who have seen a close-to-final version think the contracted design firm may have missed the mark. “I’m not overly impressed with the design firm,” said Students’ Association Senator John Sandstrom.
