Three place at home open

Brian Kimmes

The SDSU wrestling team began its season by hosting the Warren Williamson/Daktronics Open on Nov. 4.

The team had many wrestlers compete in the individual competition, but did not have wrestlers win their weight class.

Finishing highest for the Jacks were Jason Stripling and Nick Kulseth.

Stripling and Kulseth each finished third place.

Stripling, a junior from Minneota, Minn., defeated Jacob Combs, 3-1, in the heavyweight division.

Windom, Minn., native Kulseth defeated Chism Fink, 3-1, in the 133-pound division. Kulseth is a red-shirt freshman this year.

Also placing for the Jackrabbits was fellow red-shirt Ryan Meyer. Meyer, a Parkston native, defeated Skip Toops, 3-2, to capture fifth place in the 174-pound division.
