Pride of the Dakotas premiers new look

Marching in front of hundreds of fans at Coughlin-Alumni Stadium can be a thrilling experience for even the most veteran members of the Pride of the Dakotas. Home Federal Bank offers SDSU checks

Home Federal Bank has found a new way for SDSU supporters to show their Jacks pride and assist scholarship funds – writing a check. But the check doesn’t have to be written to SDSU to still help the school. But the new technology isn’t immune to problems and is raising new debates of ethics and censorship. Originally intended to be a giant social networking tool, Facebook’s purposes are constantly expanding, which is causing some students to think twice about what they put on their Facebook profiles.

Sunk by ‘slough’ of mistakes

What was supposed to be a warm-up game against a Division-III opponent turned into a painful loss for the Jackrabbits. On Saturday, SDSU lost to University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, 17-3. Last year, the Jackrabbits soundly defeated the Eagles, 42-13. This year’s game was entirely different – the Jacks scored only three points.

The Lady Jacks women’s soccer team maintained their early season momentum with a victory over the College of Saint Mary Monday in their first home game. Head Coach Lang Wedemeyer was pleased with how many girls played well in the 7-0 victory. The team now has a 3-1 record.

Club sports more than competition

The idea of sport rages on within the human spirit. That passion is why, without fanfare or scholarships, students participate in club sports to keep the competitive fires burning. What exactly is a club sport? At SDSU, club sports are organized athletic teams that travel and compete with other university clubs.

Dancers celebrate Harvey Dunn’s legacy

Harvey Dunn touched many hearts at SDSU. One in particular was Ada Caldwell. She began as his art teacher, not knowing she would inspire a man who would become a nationally recognized painter. Now, history lives on as Dunn continues to inspire those of a new generation.
