Briggs Library receives historical collection

The Archives and Special Collections Department in the H.M. Briggs Library recently opened the George and Evelyn Norby Historical Collection. The collection contains a nearly complete run of the Brookings Register and parts of other regional newspapers. Other pieces in the collection are histories of public offices, downtown businesses, databases, photographs and negatives.

Jacks sweep Dordt

The South Dakota State University Jacks Hockey Club took two easily at home last weekend. The men’s hockey club took on Dordt College on Friday and Saturday nights, and beat their rival easily in both meetings. On Friday night, the Jacks won, 8-3. The feel for both nights was dislike, and it started early.

More than 1,200 employers will be available to meet with students seeking jobs and internships on Feb. 23 when Sioux Falls hosts the South Dakota B.I.G. (business, industry and government) Job Fair. Students and graduates are welcome from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Students’ Association approves 9 budgets

The Students’ Association approved nine budgets at its meeting Monday night. A budget of $1,000 was approved for the Black Student Alliance (BSA). This was the first funding for the BSA coming from the SA. The SA approved a budget of $900 for Chicanos in Action.

Technology holds value in classroom

In today’s classroom, technology may be just as valuable as the traditional pen, paper and books. Students in journalism Professor Matthew Cecil’s editing class learned firsthand about new technology last week in their lab. Argus Leader sports staff produced their weekly podcast live from the editing laboratory in SDSU’s Yeager Hall.
