Sports columns should be more local

As a frequent visitor to the online version of your newspaper, I have been frustrated by the column content of sports reporter Mike Miller; especially the recent professional basketball column.

It seems that a reporter at a college paper would want to write about issues that concern SDSU. I mean, you’ve got a Division-I school up there, you should be taking advantage of that. I’m sure your readers do not want to read a commentary about the NBA, when it has nothing to do with their school.

My advice, as a fellow college sports writer, is to focus on issues on campus. Write a column about the basketball teams or about life in Division I, or something like that. Don’t bore your readers with national issues.
