Former Collegian staffer returns as advisor

The new spring semester is bringing a change to the Collegian. A full-time advisor position has been added to the staff of the paper. Sherry Fuller-Bordewyk was chosen by the Department of Student Affairs to fill the advisor position. She will fill the full-time paid position in an 18-month appointment.

Avoid the nocturnal habit

An interesting thing happened halfway through my first semester in college: my roommate became nocturnal. As I was getting up to go to class in the morning, he was going to bed. As I settled in for an evening of homework, he was just waking up. Weird, I thought.

Hawthorne Heights to hit Sioux City

On Feb. 14, Hawthorne Heights (along with bands Emery, June, Anberlin and Bleed the Dream) will perform in Sioux City, Iowa. Hawthorne Heights hit the music scene in 2004 with the release of “The Silence in Black and White,” which earned gold-record status during the summer of 2005.

One dog breeder just cannot let go

I just got a puppy for Christmas; he’s a purebred red, smooth doxon. I love him to pieces and wouldn’t trade him for the world. However, I would trade his breeder. His breeder is a crazy dog lady. When I went to visit my beloved Arnie at the breeder’s house, I was greeted by no less than 12 doxons.

Collegian deserves some credit

People have been complaining about the Collegian for as long as it has existed. Find something new to bellyache about. Until recently, the paper was solely student run. Now that they have a faculty advisor, hopefully the mistakes you moaned about will improve.

Complaints need to be justified

I’m tired of reading letters to the editor where people complain about false things or things that are just stupid. So, on that note: Cassie, apparently you didn’t realize that on WebAdvisor, the section that says ‘make a payment’ means that you can pay your bill online.

SDSU criticism unwarranted

This letter is in response to Cassie Hillius, the transfer student who wrote the article published in last week’s edition. It’s too bad you are having a terrible time at SDSU. I do not agree with any of your arguments pertaining to “how terrible SDSU is.” I am also a transfer student to SDSU.

Wal-Mart not only to blame

EconoFoods is closing on Feb. 18.

Lucinda’s View

The Issue: Capers showcases SDSU talent … or at least originality This semester, although only about three weeks in, has been fairly big for me. I have a busy, difficult class schedule, a part-time job, and a new position here at the Collegian, all the while still trying to maintain good grades and a bit of a social life.

Sports columns should be more local

As a frequent visitor to the online version of your newspaper, I have been frustrated by the column content of sports reporter Mike Miller; especially the recent professional basketball column. It seems that a reporter at a college paper would want to write about issues that concern SDSU.
