Women’s hockey splits two games

The SDSU Club Women Hockey Team traveled a total of 1,800 mile this past weekend when they traveled to Rainy River Community College in International Falls, Minn.. The team played short-handed during the weekend, bringing only seven skaters and one goalie. The team earned a split on the weekend, though, losing the first game 8-5, but responding the following day with a 4-3 win.

In the first game, Kelsey Baker saved 30 shots in goal. Natalie Domagala scored two goals to lead the Jacks. Erin McMahon, Ashley Verdeck and Patty Heermann each contributed one goal in Saturday’s contest.

Baker saved 32 shots in Sunday’s win. Domagala was again the leading scorer for the team. She netted a hat trick, giving her five goals in total for the weekend. McMahon added her second goal of the weekend in the win.

The team stays home this upcoming weekend as Rainy River Community College travels to Brookings for two games. The games are Saturday, Jan. 28 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 29 at 11 a.m.
