Regent voters say yes to new rec center at SDSU

The proposed wellness center expansion has passed the first of its three hurdles of approval. On Dec. 15, Students’ Association President Ryan Brunner presented the Board of Regents’ wellness center expansion plan, along with the nearly 2,800 student signatures the Student Association collected in support of the plan.

President Miller set to retire in 2007

Next year President Peggy Miller will leave 11,000 students, a Division-1 school, new research proposals, new construction and many students who will miss her. “Filling big shoes is one thing the next president will have to do,” said Courtney Fraser, a senior nursing major.

Rules of general admission

Show: Synonymous with concert. A public exhibition or entertainment. General Admission: Standing room only. No assigned seating. After attending several general admission concerts, you start to notice a few things. If you have been to a few in the past, you can quickly identify people who are new at it.

Lucinda’s View

The Issue: Food service hours are short and quality is low. Lucinda’s View: Dining services should be open longer and food should be better prepared. The last three years I have attended SDSU, the dining services, and more particularly the dining hours, have not impressed me.

Many marriage factors should be considered

The author of From Parents’ House to Husband’s House has decided to attack the lifestyle of myself and the many others who live in the Midwest and marry at a young age. People act as if getting married is condemning yourself to a lifetime in prison.

Sioux Valley Clinic finds new home

Now, Sioux Valley is an anchor in the Brookings Mall, right next to Lewis Drug, and the new clinic has experienced an increase in patients. “The graph is heading in the right direction,” Cindy Mydland, clinic director, said.

First Bank & Trust expands with bigger branch

Christina Hoeck First Bank & Trust is adding yet another Brookings location to its roster. At 520 6th St., a new, bigger branch of the bank is being built. As a result, the bank’s east location on 5th St. and 5th Ave. in downtown Brookings will close and move into the new location on 6th Street.

A person’s style should be considered with an open mind

I am writing in regards to Christina Hoeck’s Fashion Dos and Don’ts article in the Dec. 6 issue of the Juice. In her article, Hoeck says for some it’s a hit-or-miss situation and they go from laid back to the DON’T section of a fashion magazine. It seems to me that what she pointed out as DON’Ts seem to all be either farmers, cowboys or people who love the great outdoors.

Red carpet radiance

The look this year at the Golden Globe awards seemed to be one of sophistication and elegance. Charlize Theron hit one out of the park in her Dior Haute Couture dress at the 63rd annual Golden Globe Awards held Jan. 16. Theron’s dress fell below the knee with a handkerchief hem.
