VSB looking for help

The Volunteer Service Bank (VSB) in Brookings is always looking for volunteer help and South Dakota State University students are signing on help. Students realize that volunteer experience gives them a jump-start on the job market after graduation. According to Don Boone, coordinator for the VSB in Brookings County, “Many employers look at (volunteering) when students apply for a job as something extra they give to the community.

My name is Sarah French, and I was in charge of Cavorts 2005. First, let me congratulate ALL of the contestants for their outstanding performances; it was an awesome night and we couldn’t have done it without you. New scoreboards give students experience

As most students are probably aware by now, the athletic department has had a major upgrade this fall to the scoreboard systems at Coughlin-Alumni Stadium and Frost Arena. What most students might not know is that an addition to the communication studies and theater department took place alongside those changes.

Wellness Center plan ready to go to BOR

Students’ Association’s proposed $1.35 per credit hour increase in General Activity Fees has been amended and raised to $2.75. SA approved and passed two resolutions at its last meeting, Nov. 21. The first established a committee similar to the one used in the Union.

ARAMARK receives award

ARAMARK, the food service provider for the SDSU campus, was presented with a mayor’s award for outstanding employer of the year on Oct. 12. David Menzel, director of dining services at SDSU, said ARAMARK was awarded for its extensive support of disability services.

Men’s basketball starts out season facing the nation’s best

The basketball team started the season with a challenging schedule. They played the University of Kentucky and University of Illinois in two of their first three games. The Jacks currently have a 1-4 record. The ‘Rabbits opened the season against the Kentucky Wildcats.
