And the winner is . . .

Eleven men adorned with high heels and make-up strutted their stuff as they competed in drag for the Miss Homelycoming crown on Oct. 19. In front of an audience in the Performing Arts Center, three judges awarded Gavin Nachtigall (Gloria Not A Guy) with this year’s Miss Homelycoming title.

Graduation:

All college students share the same goal-to graduate. But the time it takes to accomplish that goal varies between students. Some students take their time, while others are on the fast track to the real world. But what determines the length of a student’s college career? It may have to do with how many degrees a student is pursuing, and his or her area of study.

Last week, as I watched the State University Theatre rehearse Bat Boy: The Musical, it didn’t take me long to figure out that this was definitely no My Fair Lady. I’m sure that everyone has come across the freaky face of Bat Boy in the checkout lane of your local grocery store at some point.

Thank God it’s Friday! If you’re looking forward to the weekend, it probably means that you’re planning on a two-day break. It’s a different story for farm kids, though. When they go home for the weekend, it’s not to relax. This time of year, they go home to work.
