Eleven men adorned with high heels and make-up strutted their stuff as they competed in drag for the Miss Homelycoming crown on Oct. 19. In front of an audience in the Performing Arts Center, three judges awarded Gavin Nachtigall (Gloria Not A Guy) with this year’s Miss Homelycoming title.

Graduation:

All college students share the same goal-to graduate. But the time it takes to accomplish that goal varies between students. Some students take their time, while others are on the fast track to the real world. But what determines the length of a student’s college career? It may have to do with how many degrees a student is pursuing, and his or her area of study.

Thank God it’s Friday! If you’re looking forward to the weekend, it probably means that you’re planning on a two-day break. It’s a different story for farm kids, though. When they go home for the weekend, it’s not to relax. This time of year, they go home to work.

Women’s championship game leaves no doubt about winner

The women’s intramural flag-football championship game played out Thursday, featuring two of the best State has to offer: Psych Ward and the Puntin’ Pussy Cats. The game turned out to be a second half blowout. The Puntin’ Pussy Cats were crowned the victor with a 28-6 win, but the first half remained competitive.

If many more games play out in the upcoming years like the men’s intramural flag football championship did on Thursday night, another Daktronics scoreboard will be needed. In a game decided by the refs after regulation due to score uncertainties, the sideline was riddled with enthusiastic fans eager to discover how the game would unfold.

Wrestling team starts season while new conference waits

The SDSU wrestling team enters the season in uncharted waters as a member of no conference-yet. In his twelfth season at State, Head Coach Jason Liles said a coaches’ agreement exists between SDSU, University of Wyoming, North Dakota State University, Air Force, University of Northern Colorado, Utah Valley State, Northern Iowa, Fresno State and Eastern Illinois.

Still affected far from home

Katrina, Stan, Wilma, these are all names we’ve heard in the news during the past month. These names conjure images of destruction, loss and sadness for many; myself included. I do not have family or friends in New Orleans or other affected areas in the South.

For most women, pink isa life- saving color. October is breast cancer awareness month. The main purpose of this month is to educate women about breast cancer, by emphasizing the importance of early detection through mammogram screening. For more than 20 years the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM) has educated women about early detection.
