Jobs for students available in Brookings
The seventh Annual Student Part-Time Job Fair was a success with 35 employer tables and more than 600 students attending. The job fair can be a great place for students to connect with employers. Some of the businesses featured at the fair were Daktronics, CAPITAL Card Services, McDonald’s and more.
SDSU graduate returns home after Katrina
Carmen Toft, a 26-year-old SDSU graduate, watched Hurricane Katrina coverage from her sister’s home in Fargo, N.D., not knowing if her home was still standing in Louisiana. “I was one of the lucky ones,”said Toft, whose home is still standing and is not underwater.
Heating bills don’t have to be problem
As September draws to a close, the temperature begins to drop. Air conditioners are used less and less, and furnaces are fired up. For students living in the residence halls, the issue of heat on a cold winter day is no concern. However, students living off campus in apartments and houses must face large, monthly heating bills.
SDSU delegation travels to Poland
Four SDSU students and three faculty members traveled to Poland recently, where they interacted with students and learned more about the possibility of a study-abroad program with Warsaw Agricultural University. “It’s a lot like SDSU,” said Students’ Association President Ryan Brunner of the Polish university.
Student Savings Club cards help students
Students, faculty and staff members have the opportunity to save money at several local businesses. Twenty-one businesses offer discounts on their services through the Student Savings Club card. The card allows the carrier discounts on merchandise every time the card is shown at participating retail stores.
