Three-way stop added for safety
Driving by Animal Science and Biostress has become a little bit safer these past few weeks. Over spring break, two new stop signs were installed at the intersection of North Campus Drive and Rotunda Lane, creating a three-way stop. Students now have to stop at all directions – to the east, south and west.
Getting It on in the Stacks
Where do undergrads go to get down? Cursed to live in cramped quarters with a multitude of roommates, most college students have to get creative if they want any “couple time” with their significant other. Smart students know there’s only one place to get their creative juices flowing: the library.
Ryan Dunn’s Rock Tour to stop in Sioux Falls
The cast of MTV’s Viva La Bam will be in Sioux Falls with Ryan Dunn’s Rock Tour. The cast includes Phil and April Margera, DonVito, Raab, Rake Yohn and Brian Di Camillo, and you may have seen some of the members on MTV’s show, Jackass. Two bands, Disengage and the Alter Boys will be performing live as part of the tour.
The Pacifier is an odd mix but a good movie
Picturing an actor that is extremely buff, fights crime and gets the girl in the end isn’t very hard to do. Especially once you add the name Vin Diesel. Now try adding him in a house with a baby in his hands trying to change a diaper with a tweezers. Picture that.
Stranger’s Wrath: great graphics, story line
The Stranger. A simple man-thing with a simple dream: to get enough money to fund an operation to save his life. How will he acquire the funds? Hunting. The Stranger will hunt down any outlaw and bring them to justice…for a reasonable fee of course. He is a bounty hunter.
Editorial
Newspapers across the world had the same headline Sunday morning. News stations have had constant coverage of the same event since Thursday. People have filled churches and attended candlelight vigils all in honor of one man – Pope John Paul II, the Holy Father of the Catholic Church.
Letters to the Editor
In the March 22 issue of the Collegian, it said that people who disagreed with the Students’ Association’s (SA) decision to not turn in the petition to refer the Third B tax to a vote misunderstood what the petition’s purpose was. This is not true. I understand that the SA felt that obtaining a mere 10% of the profits from this tax was a great deal, even though college students account for more than 10% of the Brookings population, even though college students are going to pay out a lot more than $35,000 with the tax.
Sex in This City
The Meet Market Every weekend college students and young adults dress up and head out for the evening. Whether they head downtown or to private parties, a lot of folks are out on the town Thursday through Saturday night. Why do they go? Are they all looking for love? Or are they looking for the “hook up?” This past Friday the Collegian went out on the town to find out the answers to these questions and more.
From the Left: Nuclear Option
Who cares? Does anyone mind if the rules of the Senate are changed? Will it actually have an impact on you, the student reading this in Larson Complex or the professor glancing at the only part of the paper that talks about anything real? No impact on me, I’m in support of the majority.
Letters to editor encourage columnist
It always amuses me when there are angry letters to the editor against me. Sure, they are degrading and, most of the time, outright nasty, but it means that people are reading my column and it’s provoking their thoughts enough to write in and tell me I’m stupid.
