Cash stolen in early Saturday caper

An early Saturday morning caper left the Doner Auditorium box office short on cash.

An undisclosed amount of ticket sales money was stolen between midnight and 8 a.m., said SDSU Police Department detective Brett Spencer.

Spencer said an officer received a call Saturday morning about the break-in.

“The theater department box office had been forcibly broken into,” he said.

An investigation has been started with some success, Spencer said.

“We got fingerprints and footprints, and at this point we’re actively searching for a suspect,” he said.

The door to the box office, which was forced open, must be replaced.

Spencer encouraged students who may have information about the burglary to come forward. Any tips may be given directly to Spencer by calling 688-6272.
