Hip hop, spoken word artist to perform

Tara Halbritter

A number of performers make their way through Brookings each academic year. However, one truly unique act will hit the stage this semester, and it is worth talking about.

Spoken word and hip hop artist Black Ice will perform at Doner Auditorium as part of SDSU’s celebration of Black History Month in February.

As a cast member of the Tony-award winning broadway show Def Poetry Jam, Black Ice is best known for delivering humorous, character-building messages to his typically young audiences.

In addition to Def Poetry Jam, Black Ice can be seen in each season of “Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry” on HBO and on NBC’s special, “Showtime at the Apollo.”

The show starts at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 2 in the Doner Auditorium. Admission is free.
