The University Program Council has many activities planned for students for the 2005 spring semester.
The UPC is kicking off the semester with the Snowflake Skate, said UPC President Kimberly Harer. The Snowflake Skate will be held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Larson Ice Center on Jan. 21, and is free to SDSU students with a student ID.
Another UPC upcoming event is the winter formal. The formal, which is co-sponsored with the Resident Hall Association, will be on Jan. 28. Tickets are $13 and are on sale now. Tickets include “supper, the dance and a limo ride to and from the Old Sanctuary,” Harer said. She also said that tickets go fast and they “usually sell out at around 300.”
One of UPC’s community service events for this spring is the Children’s Miracle Network Dance. The dance, which will be on Feb. 8, “helps to raise money for kids at Sioux Valley,” said Harer. Students interested in helping with the dance can pick up a dancer packet at the UPC office located in the new University Student Union.
New to the UPC’s line of events for this spring is a three-day film festival. The festival, which will take place on Feb 1, 3, and 8, will feature films such as “Casablanca.” In addition to the film festival, UPC will also host movie nights like it has in the past.
