Hilderbrand to speak at graduation
SDSU’s graduation exercises will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, in Frost Arena. The public is invited to attend. The ceremony can also be seen on Cable Channel 2 in the Brookings area.
Honorary marshals will be Dr. Charles Canaan, professor emeritus of music, and Dr. Martha Iken, assistant professor emerita of nursing.
Dr. David Hilderbrand, dean of the Graduate School, Research and Sponsored Programs and professor of chemistry emeritus, will deliver the graduation address.
Music will be provided by the SDSU Concert Band, under the direction of Jim Coull.
Choir gets in holiday spirit with concert
Enjoy the festive sounds of the holiday season with the SDSU choirs during the Choral Yuletide Concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, in the Performing Arts Center.
Tickets cost $6 for adults and $3 for students or seniors and are available the day of the concert. SDSU students with identification are admitted free.
Professor to lecture on prairie lifestyle
Dr. Mary Ryder will draw upon her nationally recognized scholarly investigations and writing about Willa Cather when she delivers the 2004 Victor Webster Phi Kappa Phi faculty lecture Thursday, Dec. 9.
Ryder, distinguished professor of English at SDSU, will speak on “Reconnecting with the Genius of Place: Prairie Landscapes, Literature and Spirituality,” at 7 p.m. in Peterson Recital Hall in Lincoln Music Center.
Instructor to perform percussion concert
Stephen Tobin, a percussion instructor, will perform his faculty recital Wednesday, Dec. 8.
The recital begins at 8 p.m. in Larson Memorial Concert Hall in the Performing Arts Center. It is free and open to the public.
‘Passages’ on display at art museum’
The South Dakota Artist Series “Passages” is on exhibit through March 20, 2005 at the South Dakota Art Museum.
The artist series features the work of artists Vickie Schumacher and Kris Reaves. The exhibit includes work from both artists as well as collaborative pieces of the two.
Schumacher constructs various forms of print, which include fish, plant, insect and rock printing.
An Artists’ Reception will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21, at the museum.
Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays.
