TRiO offers information about job opportunities for students

Student job seekers now have one more tool in their search for employment this fall.

“Professional Spotlight On: Student Employment Opportunities,” an event sponsored by TRiO Student Support Services at SDSU, will take place on campus Wednesday, Sept. 22, in the NFA Building, room 232.

Beginning at 6 p.m., four panelists will discuss employment opportunities on- and off-campus, through work-study and with the National Guard. At 7:30, students will have a chance to visit one-on-one with the panelists, including Jay Larsen, SDSU director of financial aid; Nancy Jo Popowski of the South Dakota Career Center; Doug Wermedal, SDSU assistant dean of student services; and Patrick Chapman of the Army National Guard.

In addition to learning about new job opportunities, students will learn about balancing work and school, according to Popowski. She said part of her presentation will include “letting the students know that there are positions on campus” as well as “making the job positions visible to the student.”

For more information on the event, contact Nadine Huyck, coordinator, at (605) 688-6653.
