If the casual fan has not paid much attention to the Jackrabbit football squad recently, they may be surprised to discover that SDSU has developed a potent passing attack as they move into Division I-AA this season. When John Stiegelmeier became head coach of the SDSU football program for the 1997 season, the Jackrabbit offense featured a physical, two-back set that was built around All-American running back Josh Ranek.

New division 1 rivals for SDSU

As SDSU enters a new division of athletic competiton, there are some new opponents that many Jackrabbit fans know little about. Here is some information to quench your thirst. Last week, SDSU met a tough opponent in the UC-Davis Aggies. Head coach Bob Biggs is in his 11th season as coach with a 96-34-1 record.

KSDJ station manager should step down

The right thing would be for Ashley-Kenneth Allen to step down from his position as the campus radio station manager. We reported this week that Allen was found guilty of sexual harassment, after charges were brought against him by Jacy Riedmann, a former KSDJ staff member.

Award-winning productions hit the stage of Doner Auditorium

Auditions begin tonight for one of two award-winning theatrical productions which will be presented at SDSU this semester. Our Town is a 1938 Pulitzer Prize winner and Chicago is a six-time Tony Award winner, including Best Musical Revival. Beginning this week, students can try for a spot in these productions.

Today’s DVD releases reviewed and previewed

The Punisher (Rated R) Lion’s Gate Films Directed by Jonathan Hensleigh (Gone in 60 Seconds, Armageddon, Con Air) This action/revenge flick based on the Marvel comic book character does very little to earn the Punisher superhero status. The movie hesitates to bring out the alter-ego of the Punisher in character Frank Castle (Thomas Jane) and spotlights his mortality by showing him constantly getting his ass kicked by the bad guys.
