WMDs were not the only reason for the Iraq conflict

The case for war in Iraq was built on many arguments. One of the most compelling was the belief that Saddam Hussein’s evil regime was developing weapons of mass destruction. Now it appears that Saddam’s WMD program may have been suspended long ago – Iraq probably did not have weapons of mass destruction at all. The President has appointed a commission to investigate intelligence failures in Iraq; his opponents are renewing their charge that the war was unjustified.
