More SDSU students called to active duty

Around 30 more SDSU students have been called to active military duty this semester, according to Student Affairs Specialist Matt Aschenbrenner.

This is in addition to the 140 students who left for military service last spring.

Aschenbrenner, who works with called-up students, added that recent call-ups for more South Dakota units will continue to affect SDSU.

“Numbers (of withdrawals) will be going up,” he said.

At this point in the semester, Board of Regents policy allows those leaving for military service to receive either the current grades for classes or a refund.

Aschenbrenner said students have typically chosen to take their grades.
