Archie Mackenzie a model for diplomacy

Nels Granholm

Once in a while you meet someone who tells the truth, makes good sense and inspires hope all at the same time. Pretty unusual. But Mr. Archie Mackenzie is just such a person.

Last spring (2003), while my wife Dee and I worked at Manchester Metropolitan University in England we met Mr. Archie Mackenzie, now 88, who spent his career working in various diplomatic capacities for the British government.

We met Mr. Mackenzie and his wife Ruth at Manchester Metropolitan University following his evening Multicultural Studies Programme – sponsored lecture on the topic of Faith in Diplomacy; he has also written an autobiographical book with the same title.
