Pater Named NCAA SD Woman of Year

Former SDSU women’s basketball player Melissa Pater has been named South Dakota’s NCAA Woman of the Year.

Pater, who lead the Jackrabbits to their first ever NCAA Division II title last spring, is the all-time scoring leader for SDSU with 1,747 points and played 126 games in her career.

Other honors for the Holland, Minn. native include being the first SDSU women’s basketball player with All-American honors. This season Pater will be a graduate assistant to the women’s basketball program.

State finalists for the title will be narrowed down to ten by the end of the month, and the winner will be announced in Indianapolis Nov. 1.
