Best of Brookings 2003
What better way is there to welcome back spring breakers than to remind them of what Brookings has to offer? We’re giving you the best of the best, the brightest of the bright. Hey, it’s only our opinion. Best Breakfast Cook’s Kitchen. With prices as cheap as a weekend at grandma’s and the ambiance to match, it’s the best place to go eat with a case of the bed-head and a serious appetite.
Palestine and Israel may never find a lasting peace
When I received my topic for this week, “Israeli-Palestinian Relations,” I felt a little overwhelmed. The conflict between these peoples has been going on for centuries. So have the efforts by other nations to broker a peace. It hasn’t worked yet.
Assign equal blame to all sides in the Israel conflict
Last Saturday, Yasser Arafat, PLO president and dilapidated father o’ terrorism, nominated Mahmoud Abbas to the newly formed Palestinian post of Prime Minister. Hoping to quell the ongoing upheaval in the Middle East, the office’s creation was heavily endorsed by several nations.
Athletes treat Frost Arena as their own during powwow
With the powwow several weeks behind us, the members of the SDSU Native American Club are finally getting caught up on sleep and most importantly, our homework. Despite nasty weather and put-out athletes, the powwow went well. As I think about it, though, I’m not sure which is worse: a blizzard or crabby jocks.
Erickson, Larson take reins
By the time the votes were tallied in the 2003 Student’s Association elections, many students had already left the frozen campus for the warm ocean waters of Ft. Lauderdale or Cancun. But the newly elected president and vice president of the SA had some business to attend to before they traveled to Las Vegas and New Orleans, respectively.
Fledgling philosophy, religion and
Students and professors in the philosophy, religion and ethics disciplines are having their first meeting on Monday, March 17 at 8 p.m. to try and get the ball rolling on the formation of a club. The meeting will be held in the University Student Union Waldner Room (USU 269) and discussion will cover a case study dealing with ethical choices in media situations.
Letters to the Editor
Collegian disrespectful I write this letter with great disappointment in the Collegian staff and their misguided views on the impending war with Iraq. In the Feb. 11 issue, in the editorial “Bush sends college students off to war,” the staff made remarks on yet another topic on which they “appear” to be severely uninformed.
SA wants funds to expand union
Students’ Association senators spent part of their Monday meeting discussing a union expansion report that will go to the Board of Regents this week. SDSU will encourage approval of funds necessary to begin construction. A per credit activity fee increase of $3 will be requested to support the $8.
