The Oscars: Who will win? Who should?

Here are my thoughts on the 2003 Oscar nominations. I will do a follow-up on the Tuesday before the awards so you can win your office pool.

Best Picture: Chicago, Gangs of New York, The Hours, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, The Pianist

This is Chicago’s to lose at this point. The only film that has sufficient momentum to dethrone Miss Zellweger and Co. is The Pianist. In general, I’m pleased with this category. The only film I don’t think belongs here is The Hours. I would have preferred to see Adaptation squeeze in here, but people like seeing Meryl Streep cry.

Best Actor: Adrien Brody in The Pianist,
