Stop modern hedonism

The abolition of man has begun.

Ignorance is bliss.

If it feels good, just do it.

Yes, a Hedonistic view of life sounds good to me, experiencing pleasure at any cost, and avoiding pain on the same token.

Isn’t that what the world and the media tell us about life?

According to the Collegian, approximately 80 percent of students live this sort of lifestyle as well.

Patience, morals, values, truth and reason are virtues of the past and they only limit our fun right?

Hey, if we ain’t nothin but mammals …

It seems to me that we need to start teaching people a lesson in self control and discipline in both body and spirit, right alongside the teaching of abstinence when it comes to sex.

Since only 20 percent of students have grasped this concept of abstinence, why don’t we just teach how to protect ourselves when engaging in sex instead?

Wake up, SDSU!

Sex isn’t a free pastime that we should joke and play around with because we can. It’s a lifelong decision with consequences attached.

God didn’t allow for STD’s because he is unjust. The burden was placed upon the shoulders of those who disobeyed his law of sex after marriage.

Teaching about safe sex or informing people of their choices only covers up the problem.

It just leaves people with the false idea that it’s O.K. to sleep around as long as it’s done responsibly.

Sex education is no more than teaching ways to “safely sin.”

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23

Enough with the scapegoats.

We should all be smart enough by now to know that both television and the media are corrupt.

They are based around the idea that sex sells.

In a world where everyone is their own master, why do we continue to let society dictate what is acceptable and what’s not?

If only someone would have interviewed me or some of my friends, it would have been made very clear that not everyone is having sex nor are we fixed on trying to.

Sometimes the bigger man is the one who can say no, even when tempted.

“Blessed is the man that endures temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life.” James 1:12

Love is patient.

Love is kind.

It does not envy.

True love is blind.

Think about it.

Learn about other cultures

As loaded as the root term “cult” is, it may sound tautological to affirm it takes a cultured person to understand and appreciate a culture other than her/his own.

In Modern Languages and Cultures at SDSU we cover Arabic, French, Lakota and Spanish, giving people a perspective beyond the prevalent Anglo-American culture.

We try to open as many doors and windows as we can so our students can become cultured, which is equivalent to cultivated, polished, distingu
