Balancing the state budget has been difficult

Tony Venhuizen

The question of what the most important issue Governor Rounds and the state legislature still face is a difficult one because at the midpoint of the legislative session there are still many important things left to be done.

Certainly increased funding for schools, prescription drug relief for seniors, a scholarship program for our young people and advancing economic development are all important priorities.

Rounds has already presented his reorganization of state government, which will make government more efficient and effective. The governor has also presented to the legislators a balanced budget that gives K-12 education a big increase and balances the budget without using reserve money.
